Who should decide which books are suitable for young people?

The topic I am going to be talking about is "Who should decide which books are suitable for young people? I personally believe that the parents of the young person should be in control of this action and this is why.

I think that the parents of the young person should be able to decide which books are suitable for their kids because there are many different parenting styles parents use. If a parent thinks their child should only be reading fairy-tails or only non-fiction or any other types of book, that is their decision. Just like curfew and allowance and time on electronics, what types of books their child can read is up to the parents.

Another reason I think parents should be able to decide which books are suitable for their kids is because the government has many larger things to worry about. The government is currently under stress of the war in Iraq, the economy building back up, their debt to china, and many more things. I don't think that what kids are reading is a big issue and I don't think we should waste any of their time and we should just leave which books are suitable for young people to the parents.
